Retinal astrocytic hamartoma vascular network on swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography

      A 28-year-old male was referred for evaluation of a retinal lesion in his right eye. Visual acuity was 20/20 in both eyes, and his past medical history was unremarkable. Ophthalmoscopy showed an epipapillary retinal lesion with a translucent appearance and mild traction on the tumour surface, consistent with type II retinal astrocytic hamartoma. A vessel emerging from the lesion and draining into a major retinal vein was visible (A, arrowhead). Whole-signal-mode en face swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography revealed a dense intralesional honeycomb-like vascular network directly connected to the inferotemporal vein (B, arrowhead). Cross-sectional swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography showed the draining vessel and the flow signal within the intercystic spaces (C, arrowhead).
